os Guzmangarza has drawn national attention. As reported in the San Francisco Chronicle recently, Guzmangarza was arrested for allegedly operating a fake clinic using the stolen identity of a physician’s assistant. Supposedly, Guzmangarza performed liposuction surgery on a woman and treated her daughter for acne while operating the clinic. According to the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office, Guzmangarza smoked a cigar during the liposuction procedure and asked the conscious patient to hold the IV bag. Additionally, when some of the fat that was being removed fell on the floor, Guzmangarza picked it up with his hands.
The patient claims she saw a doctor days after the procedure when her abdomen became infected, and learned that Guzmangarza was not licensed. Guzmangarza now faces multiple charges, including practicing medicine without a license, assault, battery, impersonation, identity theft and grand theft. He faces up to 12 years in prison if convicted.
