5 Reminders Before You Get a Massage

Getting a shiatsu massage can condition your mind and body to relax. If youre tired and stressed, this is a good way to release some of that tension. Before you go to a massage, though, here are a few reminders to follow.

Arrive on time

Get there about 5 to 10 minutes early so you still have a few minutes to prepare. If you get in late and theres a long line of customers after you, then your time may be reduced. If you want to take full advantage of the time allotted to you, then dont be late, the Huffington Post says.

Speak up about any injuries

If you have any injuries or certain parts of your body are sensitive to pain or discomfort, then let your massage therapist know. Thats going to affect the treatment and pressure theyll apply.

Say something if youre in pain

A shiatsu massage, properly done, shouldnt cause you any pain. If theres pain, you need to let your massage therapist know. If you dont, the pain could worsen and that could mean more harm to you. If you think theres something wrong, it may be a case of the therapist not knowing enough to carry out the treatment properly. Say something and put a stop to the treatment right away.

Before you pick a spa, make sure you know what youre getting into. Look for online reviews and feedback. Avoid spas with a ton of poor reviews.

Book ahead

If you want a relaxing massage on a Friday night or during the weekend, then youll want to make an appointment ahead. These times are often the busiest for spas. Making an early appointment ensures youll get a slot. If you ask too late in the day, you could end up with zero open slots.
