The Importance Of Hands-On Experience In Lymphedema Training

by | Jun 23, 2015 | Health

As a professional in the medical field, you know how important it is to choose only the best possible quality of training. This is more than an issue of prestige or name recognition of a training program or organization; it is about the quality of the learning experience and how it will help you to better serve your patients.

When any type of medical professional takes a lymphedema training program, his or her goal is to be able to serve patients with the best practices and most effective treatment methods available. With our top training program, this is exactly what you can expect, and what we guarantee to each one of our students.

The Theory

In the past, we offered our lymphedema training and full certification program through a two-week intensive course. However, for many of our students, taking time away from their careers and practices for such a length of time was a concern.

To address this issue, we now offer 45 hours of home study completed prior to attending the in-person component of the training. During this time, students can work at their own pace, logging onto our online portal to complete the seven modules. We also provide the books and materials required for this home study component.

The seven modules of theory will include seven exams as well. Each module must be completed with a 90% score to advance.

The In-Person Learning

The second part of the training is in-person and offered over nine consecutive days including two weekends and five weekdays. During this time, you will participate in classroom training as well as have the benefit of working directly with our top faculty.

During this component of the training, you will participate in and practice the techniques we have covered in class. This hands-on experience is critical as the direct supervision of a certified MLD/CDT instructor allows you to hone your techniques.

It is important to note that our instructors have extensive experience in lymphatic studies and are highly regarded professionals within their area of licensure. Many of our faculty have trained or worked internationally and are also practicing therapists in addition to working as instructors.

Having the advantage to learn the techniques and methods from this caliber of professional is a true benefit to the hands-on component of the training. It will provide you with the confidence and skills you need to be able to work with patients as soon as your training is complete.
